The demand in the European market for products sold through telemarketing call centers has increased by 25 percent annually with possible revenues skyrocketing to $6.6 billion by the year 2000, according to the Yankee Group, a Boston consulting firm. This phenomenal growth has led international organizations to seek more than one center in Europe, with Sweden being increasingly selected as a northern European hub. Call center operations in Sweden are relatively inexpensive. For example, annual costs for a 30-per-son call center is $1.5 million in Goteborg, Sweden, compared to $1.7 million in Copenhagen, $1.8 million in Dublin, $1.9 million in Rotterdam and $2.2 million in London.
