The final broadband stimulus award in round 1 funding under the Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) -totaling nearly $22 million - has gone to the Reservation Telephone Cooperative to provide service in remote and rural areas in parts of Montana and North Dakota in and around the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced March 30.rnMeanwhile, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration continued making round 1 grants under BIP's sister program, the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), doling out more than $70 million in recent weeks. Some Round 1 applications remained in consideration for funding as of April 1, according to an NTIA spokesperson.
