Senators Ask if Consumers Will Benefit From AT&T-TW Deal

Republican and Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary antitrust, competition, and consumer rights subcommittee sought assurances during a Dec. 7 hearing from the heads of AT&T, Inc., and Time Warner, Inc., that their proposed merger would benefit consumers and that the vertically integrated combined company could be trusted not to withhold content from competing distribution platform or to favor its own content on its distribution platform.
