Members of the House communications and technology subcommittee pressed the three current FCC Commissioners at a July 25 hearing to support their varying views on maintaining or upending the agency's 2015 open Internet order and its Title Ⅱ classification of broadband Internet access service; asked for commitments to ensure a smooth channel repacking in the wake of the agency's incentive auction, without putting broadcast service at risk; and sought suggestions for process reform and more substantive legislative actions that Congress can take to improve the deployment of broadband and 5G services and protect consumers.
