In a new report, CTIA has reiterated its advocacy on spectrum, the digital divide, consumer protection, and a national Internet framework. The trade group urged policymakers to "establish a long-term spectrum plan and auction schedule to unlock thousands more megahertz of low-, mid-, and high-band licensed spectrum to fuel 5G" and the FCC to move ahead with the 3.45-3.55 gigahertz band auction this year, clear the C-band on schedule, and make another 150 megahertz of spectrum available during the new administration. CTIA also emphasized the need to prioritize licensed, exclusive spectrum use; reaffirm the bifurcated U.S. spectrum management framework; and provide more incentives for federal agencies to manage frequencies more efficiently while looking for ways to provide spectrum access to wireless carriers.
