European Framework for the Analysis of Antenna Structures: The Antenna Software Initiative and the Electromagnetic Data Interface

Within the European Network of Excellence on antennas ACE (Antenna Center of Excellence), there is a strong software activity entitled ASI (Antenna Software Initiative). The aim of the ASI is to standardize the way antenna software researchers implement new modeling ideas. An idea itself can be conceived in complete "academic" freedom, but the implementation of the idea, the handling and use of the resulting software code, could follow European standards, as is already the case in many other fields of science. One of the tasks of ACE is to spread the idea of European integration in the antenna field. Since ACE believes in a real pan-European standardization for antenna software, the goal of this paper is to present the ASI activities to the antenna research communities of Eastern Europe in the hope to get their interest.
