FCC SEEKS COMMENTS ON AT&T REQUEST TO PULL PLUG ON CALLVANTAGE VOIP

The FCC Wireline Bureau wants comment on an AT&T application to discontinue CallVantage, the company's over-the-top, interconnected VoIP service. A May FCC order in May extending discontinuance rules to VoIP hasn't taken effect, but AT&T submitted the request "out of an abundance of caution," the bureau said. AT&T may end CallVantage on Oct. 20 unless the FCC intervenes, the bureau said. Comments are due Aug. 31.
