Industry and conservation groups met with FCC General Counsel Austin Schlick to discussndealing with a February 2008 remand from the U.S. Appeals Court for the District of ColumbianCircuit on the commission's tower-siting rules. The court ordered the FCC to explain why itnhadn't fully reviewed the environmental impact of 6,000 Gulf Coast communications towersnbefore granting licenses for them. The court also said the commission hadn't applied thenproper National Environmental Policy Act standards or given adequate notice of towernapplications. "The Infrastructure Coalition and the Conservation Groups discussed possibleninterim Antenna Study Registration processing procedures relating to migratory bird issues,"nan ex parte filing said. "The parties agreed to continue to meet to discuss specifics regardingnpotential interim procedures." Taking part in the meeting were CTIA, NAB, PCIA and thenNational Association of Tower Erectors, as well as the American Bird Conservancy, thenDefenders of Wildlife and the National Audubon Society.
