Small-town America is great for raising children, but investment capital -- not so much. The Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is located in Rolla, a city with a base population of less than 20,000 plus some 7,000 to 8,000 students. "So we have to deal with rural demographic and geographic constraints as we try to help entrepreneurs in the area access capital," says Malcolm Townes, MBA, associate director of the Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development (TTED).
