Recording formats keep changing, but this here is the latest rage— record your footage and play it directly on a regular DVD player. We recently reviewed a camcorder that records directly to a built-in hard drive. It was convenient because you didn't have to juggle around a load of tapes. You could just transfer to a computer and wipe the slate clean for another go. With DVD camcorders, you now don't need to transfer footage at all. A lot of people have DVD players now, so it can't get any easier.
