As expected, Big TV has taken the market by storm. Backed by Reliance's might, we have seen a barrage of advertising and the fact that the sales network is already achieved impressive penetration across the country. They have 32 movie channels, which they call "Cinema Halls". The channel line-up is impressive. The good thing is that the price band of packages for initial purchase is the smallest of all, which means that you can even choose the maximum channels pack by paying a lower price up front. We were surprised to find that the Big TV's MPEG4 picture quality was not any improvement over the MPEG2 picture quality. It is surprising to see all the hype around MPEG4. Then there is the issue of the Big TV Logo which is fixed at the top left corner of the screen. Many found it intrusive and irritating. Other DTH operators also have logos, but they are usually placed in the bottom corner of the screen. The STB menus are quite slow and it takes a little time getting used to the lag. Understanding the channel packages can be a bit of a tedious task. The brochure we got from the dealers showed one set of packages, while the website has an entirely different list of packages.
