Sameer Jain has designed and developed a root canal obturating machine, called Magik, which could make a root canal treatment failure proof. Jain's invention has the potential to change the way root canal treatment is practiced across the globe, and particularly in India. A root canal obturating machine is used for filling the root canal of a tooth after the removal of the infected tooth pulp, which is a small thread like tissue in the center of the tooth. The filling process consists of multiple steps: An access opening is made depending on the area affected; the damaged, diseased or dead pulp is removed; the remaining space is cleaned (irrigated with antibacterial agent), shaped (by filing), and filled with a thin, tapered, rubbery material called guttapercha coated with a sealing agent.
