An evaluation of summer season heat stress in several types of urban canyons

TThe purpose of this study is to conduct a quantitative analysis based on actual measurements of relevant sky view factors and heat exposure in summer. In Suita, which is located in northern Osaka, Japan, we measured thewet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT)to gain perspective on the seriousness of summer heat exposure. Measurements were conducted separately during the day and night in60 points in three areas (urban, residential areas, and parks), with the street forming possible measurement points with different sky view factors. The results are reported herein.
