STUDY ON THE TRANSPARENT VINYL SHEETS USED ON STOREFRONTS AROUND THE OLD TENMA MARKET, OSAKA

The many small restaurants that have sprung up around the site of Osaka's former Tenma market since its closure have recently attracted attention after being featured in magazines. The exterior design of these small restaurants is characterized by the use of transparent vinyl sheets that constitute part or all of the storefront facade. In this study, we investigated the use of these transparent vinyl sheets, the advantages and disadvantages that they provide to small restaurants, and the differences between their use in the old Tenma market and their use in the new small restaurants. Furthermore, we clarified the thoughts of restaurant managers on the use of these transparent vinyl sheets as alternatives to more permanent walls and entryways.
