Science and Technology: Questions of control

摘要

The present American administration rests on two strong political pillars, religious conservatives and big business. With Vice President Dick Cheney and master strategist Karl Rove, President George W. Bush has exercised tight central control of the government to a degree unprecedented in American history. Even the Nixon White House pales by comparison. While the two prime constituencies have achieved long-sought goals, the effect on others, including the science and technology community, is cause for serious concern.
