Shaping a bright future for the coating and laminating industry

Key challenges and developments in textile coating that could shape the future of this sector were debated at the 8th European Coating Congress, held in the University College Ghent, Belgium, on 3-4 September 2015. Organized by a body representing Belgium's textile professionals, Unitex of Lochristi, the event attracted more than 250 delegates from 17 countries. President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Royal Ten Cate of Almelo, The Netherlands, Loek de Vries told delegates how his company is looking to exploit digital technologies to revolutionize the printing, coating and finishing of textiles. In general, he said Royal Ten Cate's emphasis on value-chain management is helping it to stay focused on four main issues: 1. technology innovation; 2. end-user marketing; 3. product differentiation; 4. cost leadership.
