摘要

The ALCTS CCS Cataloging & Classification Research Discussion Group met in Washington, D.C., in June 2007 to participate in a discussion on research applications for cataloging by Dr. Sylvia D. Hall-Ellis, Associate Professor, Library and Information Science (LIS) Program from the University of Denver where she teaches cataloging.rnDr. Hall-Ellis addressed the lack of LIS instructors at the Ph.D. resulting in cataloging classes being mostly taught by part-time LIS adjunct faculty. She discussed why she teaches cataloging, pointing out some of the problems with "outdated curricula and course materials, difficult to read and understand texts, static learning objectives, and an unknown level of student interest in cataloging."
