Writing in the Health Professions is one of the latest books in the very popular Allyn and Bacon Series in Technical Communication published by Pearson/ Longman and is the first one in the series to address the writing done by a wide variety of health professionals. Barbara Heifferon points out in the preface to the book that "a text that addresses the multiple forms of writing in and for the health professions is long overdue," and I happen to agree. While the text begins to fill a void in medical and health writing research and practice, it also points to various areas of potential study and provides a starting point for those new to medical and health writing.
