Choosing a Duster - There are a variety of hand-held dust applicators, each one suitable for a specific site and type of application. Large two-handed, plunger dusters can hold several pounds of dust and come with a variety of extensions and tips. They are used to dust rodent burrows, voids, or attics. Crank or rotary dusters also hold a large amount of dust and are also used to treat large spaces like attics or crawlspaces, or outdoor vegetation. Extension dusters have telescoping poles to reach areas where a ladder would otherwise be needed. These dusters are plunger-operated and are used to dust bee or wasp nests in trees or on buildings, carpenter ant nests in trees, and low corners in an attic. Most technicians, however, use the smaller, single-hand operation dusters which are easy to carry and use. The two common styles are the bulb duster and the bellows duster (also called a Getz duster). For some pesticide dusts, the product container itself serves as a duster.
