Bulgaria s north-east is one of thernbest regions for exploiting windrnenergy in Europe. In this easternrnEuropean country,internationalrninvestors are already planning torninstall capacities of several thousandrnDriving north from the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna towards Romania, Cape Kaliakra can be seen from the distance reaching out into the sea. Bulgarians consider this a mythical place where the rare flora and fauna enjoys special protection. But over the last few years its appearance has changed dramatically. It used to be unspoiled and somewhat wild, but now accommodates a forest of 35 wind turbines with a capacity of 1 MW each.
