Free solar energy for low-income residents

In the Boston area, 20 solar thermal systems will soon provide heat for social housing and non-profit facilities. The "Low-Income Solar Thermal" programme is also meant to be a training for the installers and a help to build up a supply chain for solar thermal. Since August 2011, a solar thermal installation has been saving the Woburn Housing Authority's senior housing building about half of its energy bill - some US$ 250 per month. In October, the mayor of the town north-west of Boston cut the ribbon in an official ceremony.
