Magyarország EU csatlakozása a cukortermelők és a felhasználók szempontjából

During the official negotiations on the accession of Hungary to the EU the examination of sugar branch was finished in June 1999. Hungary indicated that it wanted to fully apply the sugar regime of EU at the time of accession, and it would create the necessary conditions by that time. Hungary wants to discuss sugar and iso-glucose production quotas, and it presented the referring documents in November 1999. The situation of sugar industry in the Union, the sugar regime and its possible change are presented in the paper, and the Non-Annex I system is also dealt with. The differences between Hungarian and EU sugar prices are high for the moment, and there are difficulties in decreasing these differences. It is underlined that the main task is to reach proper quotas during the negotiations. The difficulties are originated from the too high WTO commitment of Hungary.
