Sprint Nextel and AT&T oppose a joint proposal put forward in the New York Public Service nCommission’s proceeding on its state USF and intrastate access charges. The tw o major telcos have ar-ngued for months that intrastate access issues should be resolved in litigation, not as part of a multiparty nnegotiation. “There should be no further delays in reforming New York intr astate originating access nrates,” Sprint said Jan. 4 in its comments to th e PSC (http://xrl.us/bn9sqr), calling Verizon’s current pro-nposal, introduced in November and a ttracting wide support, “an effort to delay reform further.” Parties nwho signed on to the November joint proposal include PSC staff, the Ne w York State Department of State nUtilities Intervention Unit, the Cable Telecom Association of New York, Veri zon, Verizon Wireless, nFrontier, Level 3, a group of smaller ILECs, Ti me Warner Cable, tw telecom and Windstream.
