Unspecified U.S. military sensors detected and tracked North Korea's three-stage Tae-po Dong-2 missile as it flew out over the Yellow Sea before breaking up shortly after liftoff, according to a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) press release. The first stage of the missile, which launched at 6:39 p.m. EDT April 12, fell into the sea about 165 kilometers west of Seoul, South Korea, accord ing to the press release.
