Great Awakening Needed for U.S. Satcom Policy

In recent years we have seen the successful completion of a commercial remote sensing policy. In the near future two other national space policies are expected to come out of the White House: one on position, navigation and timing, the other on space transportation. Now that the Global Positioning System (GPS), remote sensing and launch industries have received the attention they deserve — I find myself scratching my head wondering a couple of things: "How how did the satellite communications industry get left out? Where is our National Commercial Satellite Communications Policy?
