Legislators Continue Protests Over Canceled Hubble Mission

NASA's decision to forgo further servicing of the popular Hubble Space Telescope continues to draw rebukes from members of both major U.S. political parties. In separate interviews, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Texas) criticized NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe's decision to cancel what would have been the fifth and final space shuttle mission to Hubble since its launch in 1990. Brownback, chairman of the Senate Commerce science, technology and space subcommittee, said NASA should scale back its international space station (ISS) plans if that is what it takes to make the Hubble servicing mission happen.
