XIAR Continues Quest For U.S., European Military Customers

With construction of its first military communications satellite nearly complete and preparations well under way at Arianespace for a planned mid-year launch, XTAR LLC remains unable to convince potential clients to formally commit to using the spacecraft's transmission capacity. Military officials in Europe and the United States continue to express strong interest in XTAR's business, but they also have made it clear that they will not commit to using the new X-band satellite until it is safely on orbit and in service, said Denis Curtin, XTAE's chief operating officer.
