The beginning of the end for satellite TV, or just the end of a beginning?

Sky TV has recently announced that for the first time as of 2018 it will be offering its pay TV service over the internet - intended to widen its appeal to customers that cannot (or perhaps will not?) install a satellite dish - first in the UK and later on across Europe. Analysts suggested it is an effort to compete against rivals such as BT or Talk Talk but perhaps it is also a more strategic move, in the wake of a potential takeover by 21st Century Fox, to diversify away from satellite broadcast towards streaming.
