Great expectations and closure innovations

The packaging industry has seen some exciting technological advancements over the past year and with world demand for caps and closures projected to rise 4.6% per year to $40bil-lion in 20141 the next few years look set to be even more promising, writes Peter McGeough. But what is pushing this sudden increase in demand and will the industry be able to raise its game in order to meet these expectations? Findings from a survey conducted by Freedonia suggest that with an increasing rate in industrialisation and improvement in living standards across the globe, it is the developing countries fuelling this surge in activity, especially China.
