This exceptional book casts new light on an old field: the design processes of medieval architects. It is generally agreed that geometry - and the ratios that derive from geometrical figures - determined the key points of a medieval building and its proportions, from its smallest ornaments to its 'space frame'. It is also agreed that these ratios constitute the 'hidden' structure within a building, and that they are central to the architect's design. But these geometries are of a rather particular kind.
