SELC plans to sue TVA over alleged clean water violations at Cumberland plant

The Southern Environmental Law Center is planning to file a lawsuit against the Tennessee Valley Authority in federal court over what the group says are violations of the Clean Water Act at one of the federal utility's coalfired power plants. On behalf of the Tennessee chapter of the Sierra Club, the SELC filed a notice of intent to sue TVA over alleged violations at the utility's 2,522-MW Cumberland plant in Stewart County, Tenn., the environmental group said Jan. 14.
