It gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings to the members of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers on the occasion of your National Conference. Their brilliant technological breakthrough is yet another example of how American inventiveness and the "can do" spirit has helped revolutionize the communications industry. Today, half the homes in America have at least one videocassette recorder and television broadcasters and producers throughout the world depend on this modern miracle of technology.
