Cherts and shales (late Sinian to early Cambrian) are found in the western Zhejiang Province and the southern Anhui Province. The cherts belong to the Piyuanchun Formation (late Sinian). The shales belong to the Hongtang Formation (early Cambrian). The cherts are mainly composed of SiO_2, Al_2O_3. Alkali and Alkaline earth elements are low (e. g.
