Smart Missiles Enter Service

A new family of artillery missiles is entering service with the U.S. Army. Part of the service's ambitious Future Combat Systems (FCS), the Non-Line-of-Sight-Launch System (NLOS-LS) is designed to provide extended precision fire support beyond the range of conventional gun-launched munitions. The NLOS-LS consists of several types of artillery missiles fired from a vertical launcher that can be deployed by ground or air platforms.
