Race Raises Scholarship Funds The chapter held its 4th annual Race for Excellence 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run in April. The race benefited the chapter's Scholarship Fund and included two courses. Registration and the race start were both located at SAIC's Cyber Innovation Center in Columbia, Maryland. The event included a complimentary breakfast provided by Eggspectation, Ellicott City, Maryland, and an after party at Nottingham's, Columbia, Maryland. This year's event had more than 1,000 registered participants and an estimated total of 1,500 attendees, including family members, individual racers, seasoned runners, walkers and spectators. The event is expected to contribute more than $50,000 to the scholarship fund. The 5K and Family Fun Run has more than doubled its participation in just four years. More than 30 teams competed in the 5K Team Challenge with prizes awarded to both the fastest team (SAIC) and largest team (RTGX).
