UK Tests Wearable Shooter-Detection System

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MOD) is testing a wearable shooter-detection system in theater conditions. The MOD's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory assessed a selection of systems and chose the Boomerang Warrior-X for field trials. The system provides individual dismounted soldiers with an extra layer of protection. Weighing less than 11 ounces, the Warrior-X can be integrated easily into tactical vests. It delivers an alert through an earpiece that provides details of a shooter's location on a matchbox-size display. Soldiers have immediate knowledge of hostile fire locations, and unit leaders can use shooter grid coordinates to enhance situational awareness.
