Defense Electric Vehicles Generate Power and Cash

Los Angeles Air Force Base will become the first U.S. military installation to receive a new fleet of electric vehicles later this year that can offset their cost by generating and exporting surplus electricity to the public power grid. It is part of a U.S. Defense Department plan to spend $20 million to lease as many as 500 electric vehicles at six locations.
