The authors of this article have proposed the introduc-tion of a "green technology" concept to the area of rail-road transportation management. The Suggestion involves the introduction of essential energy efficiency categories for railroad control Systems. The System itself requires the de-ployment of "smart technologies", as well as the use of renew-able energy resources and the implementation of the decen-tralised location for the energy supply sources and the railroad control System in the immediate vicinity of the periph-eral technical automation devices. The new evolutionary ap-proach to traffic management Systems has been motivated by a number of critical, farsighted IT Solutions which have been conditioned by the economical requirements and environ-mental Standards. The proposed Solutions enable the revi-sion of the conventional, out of date railroad traffic management concepts which have been used since the end of the 19th and and beginning of the 20th centuries. On the other hand, they also help to furnish the control Systems of the near fu-ture with new properties. A "smarter", more power-efficient transportation complex with maximum Performance for both the infrastructure Operator and the vehicles, as well as for the end user, should be possible.
