Cybersecurity standards - the current status, system specification guidelines for asset owners

Technological advances have led to cybersecurity becoming an essential area for asset owners. This has not only been triggered by regulations, but also by the passengers' expectations of a reliable and accessible transportation system. Given the current non-harmonised standards and regulatory landscape, asset owners are forced to identify the standards which are applicable to the railway industry themselves. This article provides an overview of the current landscape with regard to cybersecurity standards and their applicability in railway systems as a guideline for setting future specifications.
