Livable Cities for the 21st Century

Cities, with all their abrasive, creative energy, with all their turmoil and opportunity, are becoming a reality for most of humanity. What can be done to ensure that these urban areas - particularly in developing countries - offer their inhabitants adequate basic services? Many things. This article outlines the World Bank's proposals for making our cities richer, safer, cleaner settings for sustainable human development.
