Europe's automobile industry has committed itself to producing a passenger car that can travel 100 km (60 miles) on a mere three liters (three quarters of a gallon) of diesel fuel. Is such a vehicle technically feasible? Absolutely. Can it meet safety, performance, comfort and emissions requirements while being competitively priced? The drive is on to find out.
