Jones Beach State Park, a part of the New York State Parks system on the Atlantic Ocean in Nassau County, New York, is the subject of the documentary, "Jones Beach: An American Rivera," written, directed, and produced by George P. Pozderec, that was originally produced in 1998 and was shown on public television. The documentary has recently been released in DVD format with special features, including extended interviews, additional photographs, and a 1950s travelogue on the Long Island park system. Jones Beach is the most visited state park in the New York State Park system. The 2006 Memorial Day weekend saw 496,406 visitors visit for the Blue Angels air show. The average number of visitors on a summer weekend is 250,000, and the maximum seasonal attendance was in 1991, with 8,338,821 visitors. Jones Beach is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Jones Inlet and the Sloop Channel to the west and State Boat Channel and the Great South Bay to the north. To the east, Ocean Parkway continues into the town of Oyster Bay Beach, and onto the Babylon town beaches in Suffolk County.
