Call for abstracts

The American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) announces the Call for Abstracts for their 2014 National Coastal Conference, which is being held Oct. 14-17 at the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. ASBPA is the nation's first organization to promote science-based policies for the preservation of coastal areas. The theme of the 2014 conference is "Promoting Healthy Coasts." With recent clear evidence of the protective importance of healthy coasts against devastating storms and disasters, and given the economic and quality of life benefits our coasts provide, coastal stewardship continues to be a critical need. Issues from sea level rise, changes in legislative policy and practice, in the economy, in funding for coastal projects, in agency guidelines and responsibilities, and changes in coastal technology, challenge those of us who are charged with protecting and maintaining our coastal resources. The National Coastal Conference will provide an opportunity for all coastal stakeholders to learn together and develop collaborative networks and resources to promote best management practices to maintain and improve the health of our coasts.
