Calshot (below) has moved a step closer to being restored to her original appearance. A two-ton funnel extension has been built and fitted to the vessel, whose original funnel was shortened in 1964 when a diesel engine was installed to replace her steam machinery. Calshot, which was built by J. I. Thornycroft at Woolston in 1930, was sold to an Irish subsidiary of Holland America Line in 1964 but returned to Southampton in 1986 for display by Southampton City Council. She has been undergoing restoration by The Tug Tender Calshot Trust since 1997.
