Alwyn vincent vincent is one of just three survivors from the once numerous South African Railways steam tug fleet. She was built by Cantieri Navali ed Officine Meccaniche di Venezia and served at Mossel Bay as a combined tug/ tender from 1959 until 1983. Following a period in lay-up she was transferred to the South African Cultural History Museum, restored, and returned to service. She was decommissioned in 2000 and budget restrictions forced her sale for preservation. In April 2008 she was sold into Australian private ownership. She will be shipped to Australia and remain operational.
