HMS daring has embarked on her first operational deployment despite sustaining minor damage after colliding with a civilian tug. The incident took place as she approached her berth at Marchwood Military Port near Southampton. The tug, Svitzer Sussex, lost power and was unable to move out of Daring's path. The collision caused minor damage to hull plating amidships near the waterline with a scrape running down to the stern.
