Despite a decline in traditional cross-river traffic, the Mersey Ferries continue to find new business, with 65 per cent of passengers now coming from the leisure market. Numbers have increased by a third to pass the 700,000 mark in the past two years, with 2009 levels holding on to increases generated during the 'Year of Culture' in 2008.rnThe increased programme of Manchester Ship Canal cruises, mostly covered by Snowdrop (1960/670gt), attracted a 92 perrncent occupancy level last year, despite one unusual cancellation when bad weather stopped the 3 October trip to Manchester and the following day's return from Salford Quays. There was a two-ship trip on 19-20 September, with both Snowdrop and Royal Daffodil (1962/751gt) operating.
