On 10 October 2009 the 1998-built crude oil shuttle tanker Loch Rannoch (75,526gt) hit a reel holding the flexible oil transfer pipe at the rear of the Schiehallion floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) in the North Sea about 175 miles west of Shetland. A total of 120 people were aboard the platform at therntime. Although there was no oil spill or injury, BP decided to shut down production as a precaution.rnThe 130,000dwt tanker was docking at Schiehallion to take oil from the 144,000-tonne platform for transfer to the Sullom Voe terminal in Shetland. The vessel returned to Sullom Voe to await orders to return to the platform.
