Before our visit to Eleusis was over, a taxi took us to a promontory overlooking the refineries of the aptly-named Petrola, where the wreck of the 1953-built Mediterranean Sky (ex-City of York) has lain since capsizing in early 2003.rnWe hiked down a hillside of weeds, chaparral and grazing sheep for a close look at the former Ellerman liner, one of four combi-liners built for round-Africa service from Liverpool. They were fitted with some of the finest accommodation of their time, and were even considered by many to be a notch better than first class on rival Union Castle Line.
