Historic paddler scrapped Readers will have read about the needless destruction of the paddle steamer Lincoln castle in Grimsby. I first came across the Humber ferries when I came to Hull University in 1972. Hull was in a bit of a time warp and I discovered the ferry service to New Holland was being operated by coal-burning paddle steamers.
